What is soft tissue sarcoma?
Soft tissue sarcoma is a malignant tumor originating from mesenchymal tissue and is closely related to cancer of tissues such as bone or muscle. When we encounter the word "sarcoma" in medical terminology, it clearly indicates the malignant nature of the tumor, i.e., cancer. Unlike many benign tumors that exist in soft tissues, soft tissue sarcomas are aggressive and potentially metastatic, and can pose serious health threats to the body.
Soft tissue sarcomas can occur in a variety of soft tissues in the body, including fat, muscle, nerves, fibrous tissue, blood vessels, and deep skin tissue. The appearance of these tumors is not limited to a specific location but can occur in any area of u200bu200bthe body. Although most sarcomas tend to develop in the arms or legs, they are equally likely to occur on the trunk, head and neck, internal organs, and in the retroperitoneal area at the back of the abdominal cavity.
It's important to note that soft tissue sarcoma is not a common type of cancer. However, due to its malignancy and potential for metastasis, timely and professional medical intervention is required once diagnosed. Treatment of soft tissue sarcoma usually involves multidisciplinary cooperation, including the comprehensive application of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatment methods, in order to achieve the best therapeutic effect.
The discovery and diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma often relies on the experience of clinicians and professional medical examinations. For patients with suspected soft tissue sarcoma, doctors will conduct detailed medical history inquiry, physical examination and necessary imaging examinations, such as ultrasound, CT scan or MRI to clarify the nature, location and extent of the tumor. Subsequently, pathological examinations such as tissue biopsy can further confirm the diagnosis of the tumor and provide key information for subsequent treatment.
