How to treat pleural mesothelioma pain

Pleural mesothelioma is a rare malignant tumor with typical symptoms including chest pain, dyspnea and general fatigue. For pain caused by pleural mesothelioma, the following treatments are available:

1. Drug treatment

2. Radiotherapy

Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to kill cancer cells or reduce the size of the tumor, thereby reducing the pressure and stimulation of the tumor on surrounding tissues and relieving chest pain. Radiation therapy is an effective option for patients who cannot undergo surgery or who experience recurrence after surgery.

3. Surgical treatment

For some people with pleural mesothelioma, surgery may be an effective way to relieve pain. Surgery can remove tumors and cancer cells, reduce the irritation and compression of the tumor on the pleura, and thereby relieve chest pain. Surgical methods include local pleural resection, pleural stripping, etc.

4. Supportive treatment

In addition to the above treatment methods, supportive care is also an important means to relieve the pain of pleural mesothelioma. Supportive treatment includes nutritional support, psychological support, etc., which can help patients maintain good nutritional and psychological status, improve physical resistance, and reduce pain.

5. Comprehensive treatment

In actual treatment, it is often necessary to adopt comprehensive treatment methods based on the specific conditions of the patient. Comprehensive treatment includes the comprehensive application of drug therapy, radiotherapy, surgical treatment, and supportive care to maximize the patient's pain relief and improve their quality of life.
