Pemetinib instructions, indications, usage and dosage, side effects
Indications: Pemetinib is used in adults who have received previous treatment to treat a certain type of cholangiocarcinoma (cholangiocarcinoma) that has spread to nearby tissue or other parts of the body and cannot be removed with surgery. Pemetinib is also used in adults to treat certain types of myeloid/lymphoid tumors that do not improve or come back after other treatments.
Usage and dosage: For adult patients with biliary cholangiocarcinoma, the usual dose of pemetinib is 13.5 mg orally once a day, continuously14days and then 7days, so that 21 days constitute a complete treatment cycle. This intermittent dosing helps reduce the potential toxicity of the drug while maintaining its therapeutic effect. Treatment continues until disease progression or the patient experiences unacceptable toxicity. This flexible treatment plan takes into account not only the effectiveness of the drug, but also the safety and tolerability of the patient.
For adult patients with malignant myeloid/ lymphoid tumors, the dosage regimen of pemetinib is slightly different. Patients need to take it orally once daily, and each dose is 13.5 mg. Similar to the treatment of biliary cholangiocarcinoma, treatment is continued until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. This continuous administration helps stabilize the condition and prolong the patient's survival.

SIDE EFFECTS: If you develop any signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, seek emergency medical help immediately.
Pemetinib treatment may cause some serious side effects. It’s important to contact your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of the following symptoms: eye discomfort - such as eye pain, redness, dryness, puffiness, or increased tearing, and increased sensitivity to light; vision abnormalities - such as blurred vision, seeing dark spots, "floaters," or flashes of light; or abnormally high phosphate levels in the blood - which may manifest as muscle spasms, numbness, or tingling around the mouth. The development of certain side effects may cause your cancer treatment to be temporarily delayed or permanently stopped.
In addition, common side effects of pemetinib may include: high or low phosphate levels in the blood; dry eye discomfort; stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite; diarrhea or constipation; mouth sores and dry mouth; joint pain or back pain; feeling tired and weak; abnormal fingernails or toenails; dry skin, hair loss; and changes in taste. Please note that this is not a complete list of side effects and other side effects not listed may occur during treatment.
Precautions: Patients should pay close attention to body reactions and seek medical attention immediately if allergic symptoms such as urticaria, difficulty breathing, etc. occur. At the same time, please note that drugs may have an impact on the eyes, such as blurred vision, dry eyes, etc. You need to communicate with your doctor in time. Blood phosphorus levels and liver function also need to be monitored regularly during treatment to prevent abnormalities. In addition, patients should inform their doctors about all medications they are taking to avoid potential drug interactions. Men and women of childbearing age need to take contraceptive measures during and after treatment, and lactating women should avoid breastfeeding.
