How effective is Mirikizumab in clinical practice?

Mirikizumab (Mirikizumab)-Omvoh, as a new treatment drug, has shown good efficacy in the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in clinical studies in recent years. Two major clinical studies evaluated Omvoh's effectiveness in situations where other treatments have not worked well or have unacceptable side effects.

In the first study,1,162 patients received the recommended dose of Omvoh infusion over eight weeks. The results showed that after 12 weeks of observation, 24% (51 of 210 patients) of patients treated with Omvoh achieved clinical remission, that is, the symptoms and signs of the disease were significantly improved or disappeared. Of the placebo-controlled patients, only 13% (out of 39) experienced clinical remission. Clinical response was assessed by the modified Mayo score (MMS), a scoring system designed to measure changes in stool frequency, rectal bleeding, and endoscopic intestinal inflammation to comprehensively assess patient improvement.

The second study further analyzed the 544 patients who showed a response in the first study. The study focused on the effects of lower-dose maintenance therapy given by subcutaneous injection every four weeks. During the 40-week follow-up period, approximately 50% (91 of 182) of Omvoh-treated patients achieved clinical remission, as assessed by MMS scores, compared with only 25% (11 of 45) of the placebo group. This shows that maintenance therapy can effectively improve the clinical remission rate of patients, further verifying the effectiveness of militizumab in treatment.

In summary, militizumab has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis, showing its good potential, especially when other treatments are ineffective.
