Whether Leborexan (Daveco) can be taken for a long time and the safety assessment of long-term use
Lemborexant (trade name Dayvigo®) is a dual oresin receptor antagonist (DORA) that selectively blocks oresin receptors OX1 and OX2 in the brain ’s activity reduces arousal signals, thereby helping to improve difficulty falling asleep and maintaining sleep. Compared with traditional benzodiazepine hypnotics, leborexan has a more specific mechanism of action, has less impact on sleep structure, and has a lower risk of dependence and tolerance.
Lebraxen is mainly used for patients with chronic insomnia, especially adults who have persistent difficulty falling asleep or frequently wake up at night. Clinical studies have shown that short-term use can significantly improve sleep latency and total sleep time, while patients with chronic insomnia may need long-term or intermittent use to maintain the effect. Whether it is safe for long-term use needs to be evaluated based on the patient's physical condition, underlying diseases and drug tolerance.

Multiple clinical studies have shown that Lebore is generally well tolerated when taken during the growth period (up to 12 months). Common adverse reactions include headache, drowsiness, fatigue, and abnormal dreams, most of which are mild to moderate and do not worsen significantly as the medication time is extended. Leborexan is associated with a lower risk of dependence, tolerance, and cognitive impairment than benzodiazepines. However, for elderly patients or those with abnormal liver and kidney function, drug response and metabolism still need to be closely monitored.
Clinically, it is recommended that the use of Lebore during the growth phase should be done under the guidance of a doctor, following the principle of the lowest effective dose, and regular evaluation of sleep improvement and drug tolerance. If severe drowsiness, cognitive impairment, or risk of falls occur, dose adjustment or discontinuation of medication should be considered. At the same time, it should be combined with good sleep hygiene practices (regular schedule, limiting nighttime screen use, avoiding caffeine intake) to improve long-term efficacy and reduce adverse effects. Overall, leborexan is suitable for the long-term management of some patients with chronic insomnia, but it requires individualized evaluation and continuous monitoring.
