What are the common side effects of Vepotolizumab/Urova?
As an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), Polatuzumab/Polatuzumab may also cause some side effects while accurately attacking tumor cells. These side effects are related both to their targeting mechanisms and to the conjugated cytotoxic drugs. Clinical practice shows that vepotuzumab is generally well tolerated, but strict monitoring and individualized management are still needed.
Hematologic side effects were the most common category and included leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia. A decrease in white blood cells may increase the risk of infection, so doctors usually monitor a complete blood count before, during, and each course of treatment. If the blood count drops significantly, it may be necessary to delay medication, adjust the dose, or use supportive medications to reduce the risk of infection or bleeding. Thrombocytopenia may cause minor bleeding or bruising, and anemia may cause fatigue or palpitations and needs to be managed with clinical follow-up.
Digestive reactions are also common side effects of vepotuzumab, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, or decreased appetite. Such symptoms can often be relieved with symptomatic treatment, dietary modification, or pharmacological intervention. Some patients may also experience infusion-related reactions in the early stages of treatment, such as fever, chills, rash, or respiratory discomfort, especially during the first injection, but they can usually be controlled by slowing down the infusion rate, preventive medication, or observation management.
In addition, a small number of patients may experience liver function abnormalities, such as elevated transaminases, so liver function should be monitored regularly during treatment. Nervous system side effects are also of concern and, although rare, include mild peripheral neuropathy, numbness, or tingling. Doctors usually evaluate these symptoms during each treatment session and adjust treatment if necessary.
