Capmatinib (Touradida) prolongs survival in patients with advanced lung cancer
Capmatinib (Capmatinib) is a selective MET inhibitor, mainly used to treat patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with MET exon 14 skipping mutations. Such mutations are relatively rare in lung cancer, but often indicate more aggressive tumors and poor response to traditional treatments. Clinical studies have shown that capmatinib can significantly inhibit tumor progression and bring patients longer progression-free survival.
In several pivotal clinical trials, such as theGEOMETRY mono-1 study, capmatinib has shown efficacy in previously treated patients. The objective response rate (ORR) exceeded 40% and in patients who had not received systemic treatment, the ORR was even close to 70%. More importantly, the median progression-free survival (PFS) of some patients reaches 9-12 months, which is already a very valuable breakthrough in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.

With the application of capmatinib, more and more patients have achieved disease control and symptom improvement. Symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath have been relieved, and the quality of life has been significantly improved. For some patients, capmatinib not only prolongs survival but also provides more opportunities for subsequent treatment, including the option of immunotherapy or combination therapy.
Overall, the emergence of capmatinib provides new treatment hope for patients with advanced lung cancer with MET mutations. Although there are still problems with drug resistance and limited efficacy in some patients, its value in prolonging overall survival (OS) and improving clinical outcomes has been widely recognized. As more real-world research data accumulates, capmatinib is expected to further optimize treatment options and help patients obtain longer-term survival benefits.
