DefibrotidePrice Overview
Defibrotide, produced by Irish Jazz Pharmaceuticals (JAZZ), is a treatment for specific medical conditions (such as hepatic veno-occlusive disease (VOD)), and its price has always been a focus of concern for patients.
Defibrotide Precautions
When using defibrotide, patients and medical staff must strictly abide by the following precautions to ensure drug safety and maximize efficacy:
1. Management of bleeding risk
(1) Increased bleeding risk: Defibrinoside can enhance the activity of plasmin in vitro, which may lead to an increased bleeding risk in VOD patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Therefore, defibrotide should be contraindicated in patients with active bleeding. During the course of medication, patients need to be closely monitored for signs of bleeding. Once found, the medication should be stopped immediately and the underlying cause treated, while providing necessary supportive care until the bleeding stops.
(2) Interactions with anticoagulant/fibrinolytic drugs: Concurrent use with systemic anticoagulant or fibrinolytic therapy (except for routine maintenance or reopening of central venous lines) may significantly increase the risk of bleeding. To avoid this risk, it is recommended to discontinue relevant anticoagulant and fibrinolytic drugs before defibrotide treatment and consider delaying the use of defibrotide until the anticoagulant effect wears off.
2. Prevention of allergic reactions
The occurrence of allergic reactions, including rash, urticaria, and angioedema, has been observed in patients receiving defibrinoside treatment.因此,对于有既往接触史或过敏体质的患者,应特别警惕过敏反应的发生。 During the course of medication, the patient's allergic symptoms need to be closely monitored. Once a severe allergic reaction is found, the medication should be stopped immediately and treated according to standard nursing procedures. At the same time, continuous monitoring should be continued until the symptoms completely subside.
