Indications: For the treatment of chronic iron overload caused by frequent blood transfusions in patients with β-thalassemia aged 2 years and above and chronic iron overload in patients with non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia (NTDT) syndrome aged 10 years and above.
Usage and Dosage: It is recommended for patients with iron accumulation, such as those who require long-term blood transfusion (blood transfusion volume reaches 100ml/kg) and whose serum ferritin exceeds 1000ug/L; corresponding to the body weight, it is initially recommended to take 20mg/kg of deferasole daily. If the serum ferritin index improves, the patient may need to adjust or increase the dose of deferasirox. Generally, the dose will be increased in units of 5 mg/kg or 10 mg/kg, but the total dose should not exceed 30 mg/kg per day.
Deferasirox needs to be taken once daily on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time each day. Do not take it with aluminum-containing antacids or other iron chelation treatments.
Medication for special groups: Pregnant and lactating women and elderly patients should use deferasirox with caution. Children under 6 years old should use with caution. Children under 2 years old should not use it.
Adverse reactions: Common adverse reactions of deferasirox include increased serum creatinine, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, proteinuria, irritation, headache, cough, nasopharyngitis, sore throat, influenza, and rash.
Contraindications: Do not use if you are allergic to or allergic to any of the ingredients.
