About Bonjesta
On November 15, 2016, the FDA approved Bonjesta, a combination drug of doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride, for the treatment of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that has failed to respond to conservative treatment. And multiple epidemiological observational studies have shown that doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride do not increase the risk of fetal teratogenesis.

Instructions for using BONJESTA extended-release tablets are as follows:
1. Initial dose: Take one BONJESTA extended-release tablet orally before going to bed on the first day. This is the initial dose.
2. Symptom control: If this dose can fully control your symptoms the next day, you can continue to take one tablet before going to bed every day.
3. Dose adjustment: If symptoms still exist the next day, you need to adjust the dose. Increase daily dosage to one tablet each in the morning and before bed. This means you need to take one BONJESTA in the morning and one before bed.
4. Maximum recommended dose: The maximum recommended dose is two tablets per day, one in the morning and one before going to bed. Please be careful not to exceed this dose.
5. Usage: Take BONJESTA extended-release tablets on an empty stomach with a glass of water. Swallow the tablet whole without crushing, chewing or breaking the tablet.
Bonjesta
1. Drowsiness and severe drowsiness: BONJESTA may cause drowsiness due to the anticholinergic properties of doxylamine succinate (an antihistamine). Women should avoid activities that require full mental alertness, such as driving or operating heavy machinery, while using BONJESTA until cleared to do so by their healthcare provider.
BONJESTA is not recommended in women who are concurrently using central nervous system (CNS) depressants (including alcohol). The combination may cause severe drowsiness, which may lead to a fall or accident.
2. Accompanying diseases: BONJESTA has anticholinergic properties, therefore, it should be used with caution in women with: elevated intraocular pressure, narrow-angle glaucoma, stenotic peptic ulcer, pyloduodenal obstruction, or bladder neck obstruction.
3. Interference with urine screening for methadone, opioids, and phencyclidine phosphate (PCP): There have been reports of false positive urine screening tests for methadone, opioids, and PCP when using doxylamine succinate/pyridoxine hydrochloride.
Bonjesta Contraindications
BONJESTA is contraindicated in women under the following circumstances:
1. People who are allergic to doxylamine succinate, other ethanolamine derivative antihistamines, pyridoxine hydrochloride or any inactive ingredients in the preparation should not use BONJESTA.
2. People who use monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) should not use BONJESTA. MAOIs may potentiate and prolong the adverse CNS effects of BONJESTA.
