When will esomeprazole be available? In 2000, the oral formulation of esomeprazole (Nexium) was first launched in Sweden. It is concentrated in the high-acid environment of parietal cell acid secretion microtubules and converted into an active form, thereby inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) at this site, inhibiting both basic gastric acid secretion and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
