Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor and is the pure levorotatory isomer of omeprazole. It is used for the initial and long-term treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD), including erosive reflux esophagitis (including erosive esophagitis). It can be used for the long-term maintenance treatment of esophagitis and the prevention of GORD recurrence, as well as the symptomatic treatment of GORD disease.   

Used in combination with antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori, treat duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori, and prevent the recurrence of Helicobacter pylori-related peptic ulcers.

Esomeprazole is clinically used as an alternative treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease when oral therapy is not suitable. Is Japanese esomeprazole useful?

Therapeutic effects of esomeprazole:

To analyze the application effect and mechanism of esomeprazole in the treatment of duodenal ulcer.       

Methods: 110 patients with duodenal ulcer who were treated from January 2013 to December 2013 were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group with 55 cases each. The patients in the control group were given omeprazole drug treatment, and the observation group patients were given esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules. The improvement of symptoms and clinical efficacy of the two groups of patients after treatment were observed and compared. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 98.18% higher than that in the control group, 92.73%, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); the abdominal pain relief rate of patients in the observation group was 40.00% after 1 day of treatment, which was significantly higher than the abdominal pain relief rate of 21.85% in the control group after 1 day of treatment, and the difference was statistically significant; the abdominal pain relief rate of patients in the observation group was 43.64% after 3 days of treatment, which was significantly higher than that of the control group after 3 days of treatment. The abdominal pain relief rate was 40.00%, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); the Helicobacter pylori eradication rate in the observation group was 78.18% higher than the Helicobacter pylori eradication rate in the control group, 72.73%, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); the adverse reaction rate in the observation group was 9.09%, and the adverse reaction rate in the control group was 10.91%, with no statistical difference between the two (P>0.05).   

Conclusion: Esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules have good efficacy in the treatment of duodenal ulcer and are worthy of clinical promotion.
