The total effective rate of (Nexium) is 97.18%, which is significantly higher than omeprazole's 84.51%, and there is no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions. Chen Caiming has done a cost-effectiveness analysis of omeprazole and esomeprazole (Nexium) in the treatment of duodenal ulcers. The recovery rate of the esomeprazole group was 92.6%, which was higher than 78.6% for omeprazole. The results proved that esomeprazole (Nexium) has a cost-effectiveness advantage. Today we will learn more about how to take esomeprazole?

How to take esomeprazole (Nexium):

1. Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once a day for 4 weeks. For patients whose esophagitis is not cured or whose symptoms persist, a further 4 weeks of treatment is recommended.

  2. Long-term maintenance treatment for cured esophagitis patients to prevent recurrence: 20 mg once a day.

3. Symptom control of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease): patients without esophagitis take 20 mg once a day. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks of medication, the patient should undergo further examination. After the symptoms disappear, immediate therapy can be used (ie, 20 mg orally, once a day if necessary).

4. Combined antibacterial therapy to eradicate Helicobacter pylori: Use a combined medication regimen, esomeprazole (Nexium) 20 mg once, amoxicillin 1g once, and clarithromycin 500mg once, all twice a day for 7 days. Tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid and should not be chewed or crushed.

For patients with difficulty swallowing, put it into boiled water until the tablet is completely disintegrated and take it within 30 minutes.

Esomeprazole (Nexium) is a type of PPI drug. It is the S isomer of omeprazole and reduces gastric acid secretion through a specific targeting mechanism. Clinically, it is mainly used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer, eradication of Helicobacter pylori and other related gastric acid suppression treatments. When taking esomeprazole (Nexium), the tablets should be swallowed whole together with the liquid. They should not be chewed or crushed, otherwise the efficacy of the drug will be affected. For patients who cannot swallow, esomeprazole can be dissolved in carbonate-free water and administered through a gastric tube.

Experience with overdose with esomeprazole (Nexium) is very limited. After the patient took 280 mg of esomeprazole orally, the main symptoms were gastrointestinal symptoms and weakness. The patient had no abnormal reactions after a single oral dose of 80 mg esomeprazole and intravenous esomeprazole 308 mg within 24 hours. There is no known specific antidote for esomeprazole (Nexium). Esomeprazole is extensively bound to plasma proteins and therefore difficult to dialyze. Treatment of any overdose-induced poisoning should be symptomatic and systemic supportive therapy.

The above is the content of how to take (Nexium), I hope it can help you!
