82 patients with psoriasis vulgaris were selected and divided into single group (n=41) and double group (n=41) according to simple randomization method. The single group was treated with compound clobetasol propionate ointment, and the double group was treated with compound clobetasol propionate ointment combined with methotrexate tablets. The efficacy, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score, and serum interleukin (IL)-17, IL-23, and IL-16 levels before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.

Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the double group (97.56%) was higher than that in the single group (80.49%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared with the single group, the PASI score and serum IL-16, IL-17, and IL-23 levels in the dual group after treatment were lower, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).

It is concluded that methotrexate tablets combined with compound clobetasol propionate ointment can effectively inhibit the expression of serum IL-16, IL-17 and IL-23 in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris.
