BioCryst Pharmaceuticals announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Orladeyo (berotralstat) capsules, a once-daily oral medication for the prevention of attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in pediatric and adult patients ≥12 years of age.

The safety and effectiveness of Orladeyo in treating acute HAE attacks have not been established. Orladeyo should not be used to treat acute HAE attacks. Other doses of Orladeyo or doses greater than 150 mg once daily are not recommended due to the potential for QT prolongation.
